welcome

Hello, and welcome to my food blog.

I love to eat and cook, and food always has been and still is my greatest passion.  Then i started attending college and found very little time to cook.  First, it was the tiny kitchen shared by four suitemates, and now, it’s the 3-hour round-trip daily commute.

Along the way, i’ve had to develop simple recipes that can be thrown together with the ingredients i usually have on hand.  I’ve had to come up with tricks to minimize dishwashing.  I’ve had to learn to cut corners, save time and money, and still cook up delicious, energy-boosting meals.

My mission is to make dorm cooking easier, cheaper, and healthier for you.  This blog is built on the premise that however busy your lifestyle may be, great food can, and should, always be enjoyed.  My foodie pride makes it difficult to admit this, but when i was living alone in Paris, i let my film projects take over my life, including my eating habits.  I starved and slept very little, and although i learned a lot about filmmaking, i was unhealthy and unhappy.  I know that a lot of you fall into this dangerous habit, so i will do whatever it takes to show you how easy it can be to work a healthy diet into a busy schedule.

Please join me in this cooking adventure, and if you have any questions, feel free to email me at askcollegefoodie [at] gmail [dot] com.  Questions on ingredients, dishes, recipes, even recipe ideas based on what you have in your fridge and pantry, are all welcome.  I probably have the answer, and if not, i will do my best to find the answer for you.  Complaints?  Send those my way, too.  I’m always looking for feedback.  And if you have tips or stories of your own, please contribute them in the comments!  I’d like this blog to evolve into a support forum of sorts.

Enjoy your stay, and if you like what you read, please spread the word!  I’m looking forward to sharing good food with you all, if only virtually.  ;)

happy cooking and eating,
nk
